Could you briefly begin by telling us how the Stock Exchange of Trinidad & Tobago started ?

The Trinidad & Tobago Stock Exchange was officially launched in 1981, under the auspices of the Ministry of Finance. It replaced the then informal “call exchange” which was operated by the Central Bank. To encourage participation and investment in the new Exchange the then Government introduced a number of incentives.  The Trinidad & Tobago Unit Trust was also launched in the same year & together with the incentives this provided a successful foundation for the Exchange.
