PROFILE OF THE COMPANY |
· The Company, which commenced operation
in the early 50s, was formerly known as Production
(Industrial) Society Karagandacement during Soviet
time.
· The company was incorporated into a Joint
Stock Company in August 1994 and later privatized
in 1996.
· In May 1998, Central Asia Cement OJSC bought
the interest in the cement plant for about $12 million.
There are 2 shareholders, namely Cement Engineering
Consultancy Ltd, which owns 51% of the paid up capital
of $1 million and Kazakhstan Investment Fund owns
the remaining 49%.
· The plant rated clinker production capacity
is 600,000 tons per anum from 4 wet line process
kilns. The Company produces various types of cement
and its cement grinding capacity can go up to
800,000 tons per year. The 2 dry process lines
can produce clinker up to 3,000 tons/day each.
They have however stopped operation since 1995.

· The plant is centrally located in Kazakhstan.
It is 40 KM north of Karaganda city and about 180
KM south of the nation capital Astana.
· The Company is currently reputed to be
the top cement supplier in the country. Its sales
are expected to be in the region of 600,000 tons
of cement in 2002 and may reach 700,000 tons in
2003.
· The plant is not only ideally located near
the essential raw materials sources like limestone,
clay, gypsum and iron ores, it is also near to the
coal mines in Karaganda region.
· The Company currently employs approximately
1270 people.
