ENGLISH

Is the official language and is widely spoken and taught in all schools. It is the medium of instruction in all universities.
TRIBAL LANGUAGES

Each group has their own language; some 45 languages (not dialects) are spoken in Kenya and for most Kenyans their mother tongue is their tribal language. On the whole Kenyans speak a total of three languages.

ASIAN LANGUAGES

Because of the large Asian population, who are descendants from their great grandparents that arrived to build the railway from Mombasa to Kampala, the various Indian dialects are still spoken. Nevertheless they are not considered official languages as they are only spoken within the Indian community.
