| One must not see Mauritius as a small island but as an excellent
opportunity for participating in the regional strategy policy where Mauritius is playing a
role of leader in the South-West of the Indian Ocean and in Eastern and Southern Africa.
With a free press, a stable government, Mauritius is one of the fastest growing economies
in this region. Since very long ago, Mauritius was called the «Star and the Key of the
Indian Ocean». There is no doubt that it is going to assert itself as a modern Star and
Key of the region by the next millenium.
Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam,
Prime Minister of the Republic of Mauritius himself said: « We represent a
lot of investment opportunities with political stability and we believe we have a lot to
offer».
Mr Derek Taylor, Chief Executive of the Rogers Group also said:
« Mauritius is a good place to look at for investment. As far as foreign investment is
concerned Mauritius is a place from which they can manage their operations in namely
Africa, madagascar and Seychelles. We have the advantage of being fluent in both English
and French as compared to our neighbouring countries. We also have good connections by air
and by sea with these countries. Using Mauritius as a base to do business with Africa,
South East Asia and Far East would offer a lot of advantages.» |
