The Republic of Mauritius is an island with an area of 1865 square kilometres and is located in the South West of the Indian Ocean. This small island offers sun, sea, beaches and is developing rapidly to offer many other facilities.

The amazing feature about Mauritius is that it is a cosmopolitan island where many cultures meet and live in harmony. It is a vivid example of tolerance and mutual understanding between people of different beliefs and traditions.

The President of the Republic, Mr. Cassam Uteem attributes the well being of the citizens to their tolerance as he said, «If our country is recognised as a society where it is pleasant to live, and is often quoted as a model where peace and harmony prevail, this is thanks to the spirit of tolerance that we have shown towards one another. The various components of the Mauritian society have, over the years, learned to understand and to respect each other».
