INTRODUCTION

Mexico is an experience that offers a multitude of art, cultures, landscapes, handicrafts, environments, history and cuisines. Actually, Mexico could be described as crossing vast deserts, trekking on snow capped volcanoes or lush tropical jungles, walking shimmering beaches and discovering ancient ruins. But it is also a unique country, providing visitors with an endless variety of choices such as big-city sophistication as well as small-town intimacy.

Mexico offers an enormous variety of population, cultures and empires, among them the Aztecs and the Maya that present real contrasts in terms of traditional sources of livehood. Some parts develop mining, fishing, and agriculture as others are focussed on modern manufacturing, services and tourism industry.

As growing industrial and financial centres, Guadalajara, Monterrey and, of course, Mexico City are handling an ever-increasing number of business travellers each day.

Now more than ever, Mexico is a land of contrasts, geographically and socially. Indian communities nestled in the villages of the mountains are steeped in customs dating back centuries. The contrasts of this country are extreme, down the mountains in the nearby cities you will find businessmen in world class restaurants discussing their investments and women shopping in some of the worlds most exclusive boutiques.

Mexico is a developing country, even though it is one of the world's top oil producers, has one of the world's largest cities, dozens of world-class companies and its own satellite in space. Its economy has not yet fulfilled the promise of its rich resources, and the country still has a spotty human rights record. Presently, Mexico is in transition mode to a truly free market economy and through its modern political and economical models.

What can you expect from Mexico. Well, a land of rich and cultural heritage. A land of modern business and all the delights of around the globe all thrown into one melting pot that Mexico has become today.
