The Nakhodka Ocean-Fishing Facilities JSC (NOFF)
was founded in 1952 and since then has evolved into
one of the largest state-of-the-art fishing and
processing enterprises of Russia. NOFF employs nearly
7 000 people, has a large deep-sea fishing fleet,
an up-to-date coastal fish-processing complex, a
ship repair and maintenance base with dry-docking
facilities, and pubic buildings.
One can judge NOFF's capabilities from the amount
of marketable fish products manufactured from 1990
to 1998, which amounts to over a million tons. By
utilizing its fishing craft to it maximum potential,
NOFF is capable of catching from 300 000 to 320
000 tons of fish annually, provided it is assigned
proper quotas and punitive tax rates are revoked.
Despite the fact that the economy situation of the
Russian Far East is characterized by a continued
depression, NOFF is in progress: state-of-the-art
technologies, machinery and equipment are being
introduced and good working relationships have been
established with many foreign firms. NOFF's fish
delicatessen plant has been gathering momentum.
NOFF has everything needed for successful operation,
including its own fishing craft, and what is everyday
more important, its employees who are highly qualified

NOFF has over 40 heavy-tonnage fishing and fish-processing
vessels of Prometheus, Pulkovo Meridian, Latvian
Pioneer, and Atlantic types. Its 4 vessels that
catch Alaska Pollack manufacture high-quality fish
farce, flour, and oil. NOFF also has 5 carrying
vessels and an auxiliary fleet of 13 vessels. NOFF's
fishing craft operate all the year round and manufacture
fresh frozen products from Alaska Pollack, greenling,
herring, bake lings, squid, saffron cod, flounder,
Atlantic cod, feed fish, fish body oil and semi
products.
A rather high rating enjoyed by NOFF both in the
Russian and world markets is solidly based on high
quality of its products. NOFF maintains close relations
with firms of repute in Russia and abroad: South
Korea, Japan, Germany, China, New Zealand, Singapore,
USA, Canada, Argentina, Greece, Spain, Norway, and
Uruguay. |

NOFF's principal type of business is processing
of fish and seafood caught by its own fishing craft.
The area occupied by NOFF's fish processing complex
is 2.4 ha. On this same territory operates the fish
delicatessen plant.
The range of products manufactured at the fish delicatessen
plant includes 40 items, among them: salted, cold
and smoked fish, delicatessens, semi products, preserves,
caviar, and various seafood. To expand the range
of products manufactured NOFF has acquired a water
area for growing laminaria, clams, trepangs, mussels,
and octopuses.
A company cannot be successful enough without close
monitoring of the of the quality-control lab is
equipped with sate of the art test equipment where
are tested not only fish products and seafood but
agricultural produce and drinking water as well
to ensure their safety both for people and animals.

NOFF's ship repair and maintenance facilities service
fishing craft between voyages and provide dry docks
for overhauls; there are also manufactured trawl
nets for fishing craft of various types and trawl
beams.
NOFF's other structural department include a car
& truck fleet, a water intake, a boiler house,
an oxygen gas plant, a purchasing department, including
general cargo warehouses, access tracks, a training
centre, the training ship Samarga, and a modern
cold storehouse for 3 700 tons of frozen fish.
NOFF's top executives pursue an active social policy
and allocate substantial resources to recreation
and health care. On NOFF's territory operates the
Volna preventorium; at the Friedman workers district
is located the Ocean ski resort; there is also the
Antares holiday seaside resort. Other NOFF's public
facilities include the horizon hotel complex, the
Olympian gym complex, and other public buildings.
