the grades (from trainee to superintendent) and de-
tails the related requirements including training, pi-
loting hours, time in position and supervisor apprais-
als. Oceaneering offers a wide range of job specific
training with courses being run in Luanda on:
Basic hydraulics, mechanics and electrics (in con-
junction with Instituto Nacional de Petróleos, Sumbe)
Introduction to ROVs
T4 (ROV manipulator) operation, maintenance
avnd repair
Methanol awareness
ROV telemetry system, operations and troubleshooting
Offshore survival and HUET (ESSATraining Center)
HSSE for Supervisors
Safety Observation Training
Forklift and Overhead Crane Training
ROV Pilot/Navigator Training (with onsite ROV
simulator)
In addition, to training in Angola, personnel are also
sent to Oceaneering´s training facilities in Brazil,
the United States, Scotland, and Indonesia. Such
training could include Supervisor Leadership Semi-
nar, Intermediate ROV Hydraulics and Electrics,
Advanced telemetry troubleshooting and Advanced
ROV Piloting.
SUBSEA PRODUCTS
BOP Control Systems: Oceaneering´s BOP control
systems offer long-term operational track records,
setting new standards for reliability and perfor-
mance. Our products range from conventional and
modular surface systems to discrete hydraulic and
deepwater electro-hydraulic systems. Each system
is developed in our state-of-the-art manufacturing
facilities and is backed by a company with decades
of experience in the subsea industry.
Deepwater
Technical Solutions (DTS): Oceaneering´s Deepwa-
ter Technical Solutions (DTS) Group recently tested
a Subsea Accumulator Module which was able to
close a subsea BOP ram in less than 25 seconds
in 1300 msw. The test proved that closing times for
Emergency BOP Override Systems can meet or
exceed API recommended closing times of 45 sec-
onds on ram functions. To reach the override tim-
ing, all ROV intervention points on the BOP were
first verified to ensure that they were designed and
engineered to allow an unrestricted path to the ram
actuator. The BOP was fitted with an Oceaneering
provided intervention panel that allowed a full 1-inch
ID flow path from the Subsea Accumulator Module to
the BOP actuator.
Grayloc® Products: a unique device for connecting
piping systems for over 50 years. It seals through
the elastic action of a reusable metal ring. It is
lighter and stronger than a flange. No other make
and break connection requires so little space. Main-
tenance time is reduced; spare parts inventory is
lowered. The Grayloc connector provides immediate
savings in weight, space and fabrication time. The
Grayloc connector offers continuing advantages in
maintenance costs and improved performance. It
is a truly unique connection and has become the
standard for clamp connectors.
High Performance
Cables: Oceaneering International´s Houston-based
High Performance Cables (HPC) division opened in
2009. The 120,000 sq ft facility allows the company
to produce its own Magnum® and Millennium® ROV
umbilicals and tethers to meet exacting mechanical,
electrical and optical specifications. The site also of-
fers specialty umbilical products, tethers, and cables
for custom applications in other industries such as
communications and defense. Lean manufacturing
is employed throughout the facility. The layout of the
plant considerably reduces handling of raw and in-
process materials. Safety is the first priority whether
moving product within the facility or receiving raw
materials for Just in Time (JIT) manufacturing.
Umbilical Solutions: Oceaneering Umbilical Solu-
tions (formerly Oceaneering Multiflex) is a world
leader in the design and manufacture of subsea
control umbilicals for offshore applications. Estab-
lished in Houston, Texas during 1977 and acquired
by Oceaneering in 1994, the company manufactures
umbilicals utilizing thermoplastic hoses, electric
cables, high collapse resistant flexible pipes, steel
tubes and hybrid combinations for all types of sub-
sea systems. The Umbilical Solutions product range
also includes umbilicals for installation and worko-
ver control, blow out preventer control, geophysical
survey, electric power & signal transmission, flying
leads and jumper assemblies. In addition, any of the
company´s three manufacturing locations can sup-
ply high-pressure hoses, end couplings and associ-
ated tools.
Pipeline Connection & Repair Systems (PCRS):
Oceaneering Pipeline Connection & Repair Systems
(PCRS, formerly Pipeline Repair Systems - PRS) is
a global oil and gas industry leader in the design,
manufacture, and service of products for subsea
pipelines. Oceaneering capabilities cover routine
and emergency pipeline repair and maintenance as
well as new construction. PCRS has a field-proven
track record and reputation of providing high-quality,
immediate solutions to pipeline operators in virtually
all major hydrocarbon producing areas worldwide.
PCRS maintains an extensive inventory of mechani-
cal pipe end connectors, hot tap fittings, permanent
pipeline repair clamps, misalignment ball connec-
tors, swivel-ring flanges, breakaway joints, and other
