INFRASTRUCTURE AND PROCESSES

The last few years have seen significant changes in the infrastructure and processes at the Fiji Fish Lami operation;
· A new jetty has enabled more efficient loading /unloading turnaround time for the increasing vessel movements.
· A new fuel line installed to cater for the increased traffic.
· Installation of ice making machines on the vessels resulting in economies of scale and lower non-productive "down time" and better quality fish.
· Upgrading of the processing plant to ensure compliance with EEC Standards, and USA Government HACCP accreditation standards. Fiji Fish was the first fresh fish factory in Fiji to be HACCP approved (No. FJ001).
· Purchase of vacuum packing machines enabling processing of fish loins and steaks for export.
· Construction of larger freezer storage facilities.
· Improved processing techniques and transport logistics resulting in more efficient and effective handling of fresh fish.

PRODUCTS

Traditionally, Fiji Fish, by it's own policy, had remained strictly in the area of fresh whole fish exports.

This policy has now changed due to market requirements.
With the positive support of FTIB and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries & Forests, Fiji Fish now has European Union accreditation and is exporting to London, Austria and Germany. Yellowfin tuna, Swordfish, Albacore, Mahi Mahi, Marlin and Wahoo all rated "superior" in the strict testing process that the EU supplier undertakes.
Fish from Fiji is being hailed as the best in the world, and Fiji Fish will be the leader in exporting to the European Union markets due to it's tight quality control, adherence to standards, and it's ability to supply the right product at the right price at the right time.

Fiji Fish will continue to serve it's existing USA and Japanese markets based on demand, supply and pricing.
Fiji Fish Marketing Group Limited has proven again that it is the leader in the Pacific for fish exports, and looks forward to the new millennium with optimism, initiative and pride in being able to contribute so much to Fiji's economy and it's people.
