The
Pink Lady
Ghana is not only attracting tourists, it is also the destination of many important conferences, largely because of the plush Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).

The AICC nicknamed the "Pink Lady" because of its predominantly pink coloration has been the biggest host of conferences in Ghana for the past seven years and continues to attract more conferences. It has played host to more than 300 international conferences since its opening in 1991; from the Commonwealth Telecoms symposium to the 5th African African-American Summit last August. | "The AICC represents the new Ghana. It represents a nation in a march towards what we are trying to do for ourselves, a march towards our vision 2020" said Mr. Kwabena Baah-Duodu, Former Director of the AICC . According to him the Center has opened its doors for negotiation with private investors to build a hotel close to it to accommodate delegates attending conferences. "We want to pull the private sector because when it is government owned there are certain impediments that we cannot always tackle," he said
In the year 2000 the AICC will be among the hosts of a major global event dubbed "Africa Age Communication 2000 ". The two-week long event is expected to provide a forum to debate emerging professional marketing communication issues and their consequences in the fast changing African environment.
Africa Age Communication 2000 will bring together marketers, advertisers and media people involved in the marketing and promotion of products and to analyze in detail available techniques and how to communicate with multi ethnic consumers in the emerging African market. |
