Commodity Processors (Pvt.) Limited, known as COMPRO for short, is one of Malawi’s leading millers and exporters of finest quality dhals and agricultural commodities.
COMPRO’s Toor Dhal is liked and known, around the world, for its high quality and delicious taste.
The Toor Dhal or pulses milled by COMPRO are of the finest quality with fine edges and a bright golden colour. COMPRO only mills Toor Dhal from the finest quality Malawi Pigeon Peas. Malawi Pigeon Peas are renowned all over the world for their large size and intense taste, all of which ensure that COMPRO’s Toor Dhal will satisfy the most discerning palate.
In addition to using the finest quality Malawi Pigeon Peas and having stringent milling quality controls, most of the Pigeon Peas grown in Malawi are grown by smallholder farmers. The small holder farmers do not use chemical inputs in their farming methods and therefore the Pigeon Peas are chemical free and only have the natural goodness of the soil.
COMPRO is also established as one of Malawi’s premier agriculture commodity trading companies. COMPRO buys various seasonal agricultural commodities directly from small holder farmers through markets set up in the rural areas of Malawi, and also from specially vetted and appointed traders who deliver directly to our warehouses in Blantyre, Malawi.
The agricultural commodities traded by COMPRO are exported around the world. They are used by various millers, manufacturers, industries and non-governmental organisations. Some examples for which agricultural commodities supplied by COMPRO are used are as follows: flour and dhal millers, food canners, spice manufacturers, confectionary manufacturers, peanut butter manufacturers, tear gas manufacturers, relief food for natural disaster victims, pet food suppliers and many more.

COMPRO’s quality philosophy ensures that only the finest quality product reaches the customer with the best service to match. Quality at COMPRO is not a system but a way of life. We have ensured that quality is the dominant driving force behind all that we do, be it in our procuring of agricultural commodities, manufacturing process or pre-sale and after-sale service. For example COMPRO services some exceptional organizations like the World Food Program as it meets their stringent requirements for quality, service, financing ability and volume capabilities.
All COMPRO’s agricultural commodities are procured during season to ensure that the freshest and finest quality agricultural commodities are procured - be it for COMPRO’s own milling of dhals or for supply to other companies.
Our buyers are specially trained to ensure that only the finest quality agricultural commodities are procured at source in the rural areas directly from the smallholder farmers. The traders that supply us directly at our premises are specially vetted and trained to ensure that they continue our quality philosophy. In fact we are so strict on the quality of the agricultural commodities that we procure, that each and every bag is checked prior to unloading at our premises.

Malawi is ideally located to supplying all parts of the world. Regionally Malawi has road links with all neighbouring countries in Southern Africa. Further a field Malawi has excellent links with Mozambiquan, Tanzanian and South African ports for shipping to all parts of the world – be it to the east, west or north.

| Packaging |
All of COMPRO’s products are available in a wide variety of attractive packaging and labels.
We will pack in 5kg, 10kg, 20kg, 25kg, and 50kg polypropylene bags branded under the COMPRO name, or printed with the customers name and to their requirements up to five colours. Alternatively, the bags can be left unprinted if required by the customer.
COMPRO can also work with the customer to pack in smaller polyethylene pre-pack sizes ready for retailing. The customer can either supply the packaging or we can get packaging printed to the customer’s specifications.
| Social Responsibility |
The Mukadam family, through their various businesses, has invested heavily in Malawi to contribute to the development of this beautiful land. However, they have ensured that all investments and businesses are socially responsible and help the communities in which they operate. This help is in the form of direct donations and support, for example to orphanages, or through empowering communities to help themselves.
COMPRO buys directly from smallholder farmers to ensure that they are not exploited. COMPRO is also currently working with various organizations to ensure that high quality, high yielding seed which is ideal for dhal milling is developed and distributed to the small holder farmers for them to be able to obtain premium prices and maximum return from their land.
COMPRO also ensures that there are no waste products from their manufacturing facilities – everything has a use in a responsible manner.
No chemicals are used during COMPRO’s manufacturing process ensuring that we are not promoting the use of potentially environmentally harmful products and also that our milled products are only full of natural goodness.
