 Legal basis |
Slovak Chamber of Commerce and Industry is a public institution established by the Act of the Slovak National Council No. 9/1992 Coll., on chambers of commerce and industry active within the territory of the Slovak Republic, aimed at activities in support and protection of business activities of its members, both home and abroad.
The Chamber has launched its activity on July 1, 1992 and it has its registered domicile in Bratislava.
| Membership |
Members of the Chamber are both natural and legal entities, doing business in various branches of economy. Since May 1, 1996 membership in the Slovak Chamber of Commerce and industry is not compulsory.

| Main activities |
Within the scope of its activities, the Chamber:
1) participates in drafting of generally binding regulations and measures concerning business;
2) co-operates in co-ordination and implementation of international economic relation of the Slovak Republic;
3) establishes and develops contacts with chambers and similar institutions both at home and abroad;
4) organises economic and business missions and delegations;
5) collects and spreads the knowledge and information on economic and commercial, economic and environmental terms and conditions and legal framework prevailing in other countries;
6) acts as editor of professional literature;
7) arranges publicity and advertising for business entities both at home and abroad including participation in various fairs and exhibitions;
8) issues certificates on the facts pertaining to legal relations prevailing in international trade;
9) organises arbitration proceedings in economic disputes between business entities;
10) plays role of an information-mediator centre for retrieval of business partners both at home and abroad (aimed at establishing business relations);
11) renders consulting services and services of councils in all matters related to entrepreneurial activities in various economic sectors.

The Slovak Chamber of Commerce has signed bilateral co-operation agreements with a number of national chambers of commerce in other countries.
