Západoslovenská energetika, a. s. is the only important distribution company operating in the territory of the capital city Bratislava and in the four adjacent regions of the Slovak Republic.
The basic activities are represented by purchase, sale and distribution of electric power, as well as by providing the complete related services. ZSE has a million of customers. The company has been on the market for nearly 80 years.
Západoslovenská energetika, a. s. came into existence by the transformation of the former state enterprise Západoslovenské energetické závody on 1st November 2001. The accession of a strategic investor with 49 % shares is being arranged at present.

Západoslovenská energetika (hereinafter referred to as ZSE) has been on the market since the year 1922 (under the name Západoslovenské elektrárne, úc. spol. Bratislava as the beginning). Three years before its establishment, on the area of today´s operation there were only a few thousands of electric power consumers located in 25 towns and villages. In August 1922 the company started to supply electric power from its facilities. A lot of electric power manufacturers joined the 22 kV network step by step and put aside its sources to reserve. So it happened that ZSE reached the borders of its area with its transmission lines till the year 1930.
Nowadays, ZSE provides services in the sphere of distribution, sales, purchase and production of electric power for a million of customers. The most important mission of ZSE is to distribute and sell the electric power to customers of all rates - from household, over small businessmen up to the biggest Slovak enterprises. Till the year 2001 another main sphere of ZSE operation was the production, distribution and sale of thermal power.

| Investments |
For the sake of the long-term prosperity the company constantly spends considerable financial means for the construction and re-construction of the production and distribution facilities. The electric power losses have been minimalised step by step. Our investment plan is to improve networks, to reduce failure rate and losses and to accede foreign markets.
| Co-operation |
Based on the co-operation with home and foreign business partners we have come into the market in order to get the position of a respectable company, which wants to secure its dynamic development. We support the know-how interchange among other power companies. The co-operation with reputable bank institutions, universities, mainly technically oriented, is also of importance.
| Services for Customers |
In the sphere of sales and distribution of electric power our ambitions are to provide the customers with complete services: from processing the client´s demand by technical development section, over designing, transmission equipment installation, connection. And then, of course, it is substantial to maintain the good business relations and to manage the regular invoicing and collection with the least possible problems. Nowadays, this trading activity is systematically controlled by means of computers on the high level. The company is controlled by management systems in all its activities in order to execute the demands promptly and in good quality. The most important management system is the complete system of the customers trading control. At present our priority is to increase the share of the customers using transfer payments for the consumed electric power.

For the last eleven years of self-activity ZSE has passed over vital changes. We intend to implement new technologies, techniques, information systems, to change the relationship towards the customer. The objective of the dynamic development of ZSE is to approach the customer in such a way so that he identified ZSE as a company of high credit, which provides him good services and has the clear and comprehensible program.
We want to be a financially fixed company, which will grow dynamically. To achieve this objective, we intend to build up the optimum capital structure of the company, to maintain Slovak and international markets, to strengthen relationship with external institutions, to raise the level of education and the creative capacity of employees, to engage them in the process
of changes.
The company´s tradition of seventynine years is a commitment for us not only to retain the prominent position in the Slovak economic top evaluations, but also, due to the opening of European market with electric power, to take challenge to maintain new energy markets.
