 A BRIEF HISTORY |
ZIPP is one of the leading construction companies in Slovakia. With its headquarters in Bratislava the company was established in 1963, as a state owned company. In 1994 it was transformed into a public limited company. The history of ZIPP is based on 30 years of traditional production and development of prefabricated units for all kinds of construction areas. ZIPP has its own departments for projection and production, it also has its own static development department as well as its own transportation and installation departments. Thanks to these faclities ZIPP was able to transform itself into a construction company that delivers complex and advanced constructions services.

ZIPP is one of the the largest construction companies in Slovakia they specialize in designing buildings and in the construction and production of construction materials. ZIPP is one of the most versatile Slovak companies in field of building construction. They design and implement the structures according to valid Slovak and foreign standards. Their production standards meet the requirements of European Law. They transport their products by railway or by road transport.

ZIPP`S goal for the next couple of years is to expand our activities in central and eastern Europe and to transfer the firm into an international construction company with a strong position in the surrounding markets. In the past ZIPP was able to expand into German, Czech, Austrian markets and naturally its home market Slovakia. ZIPP has also established some subsidiary companies in the Czech republic such as ZIPP Prague.

In 2000 ZIPP had a turnover of 6,13 Billion SK (143 Million EUR) from which 30% were its own services. In 2001 business closed with a net profit of 93.9 million SKK, total output reached over 4.5 billion SKK. In the first half of 2001, ZIPP, s.r.o, Bratislava grossed 152.48 million SKK. The company's revenues totalled almost 3.19 billion SKK. The company exported 4.5 % of its output over the first half of the year, placing the biggest portions of its exports on markets in the Czech Republic, Austria and Germany. Zipp employed 1,410 people at the end of June on an average wage of 14, 826 SKK, a y/y increase of 1,933. For the year 2002 ZIPP awaits a net profit of at least 110 million SKK on output of 3,8 billion SKK. Exports are expected to make 12.5 % of the total output.

The ZIPP BRATISLAVA, spol. s.r.o. (Ltd.) is the first construction company in the Slovak Republic that was awarded the QM-certificate according to the Eupean standard EN ISO 9001. This certificate was issued by the prestigious German accreditation company LGA InterCert in Nümberg on April 24, 1997. ZIPP has also received the folllowinf awards:
§ "Construction of the year 2000" for building the laquering hall for Volkswagen Slovakia Corporation in Bratislava.
§ "Slovak Construction Business People Award" for achieving an explicit quality and an unusual technical procedure at constructing the VW laquering hall in Bratislava.
§ "Corporate Supplier Leader Award"- The leading Edge of the Volkswagen Corporation.

Typically contracts of ZIPP include production halls, factories or business cebtres, shopping malls, ZIPP is also successful in the construction of Skyscrapers; Slovak National Bank building or Vseobecna Uverova Banka building.
| CONSTRUCTION MARKET OVERVIEW |
The competitiveness of the construction market in Slovakia is similar to EU countries. The share of the constuction production on GDP of Slovakia in 2000 decreased by 4% and the construction sector employed approximately 7% of the total active population. The total output was 64,5 billion SKK, which was only 1/3 of the output of 1989. In 2001 there were a total of 41,000 construction companies in Slovakia, of which 98% was made up of smaller enterprised and 0,2% was comprised of large construction companies. The medium to large sized companies employed approximately 50% of all employees within the construction industry, which is a similar structure in comparison to western countries.

The ZIPP company started to produce structures and components of any kind with fully customised dimensions. Universal flexible casing is a prerequisite for the manufacturing of components of any kind with any equipment. The component section and their reinforcement are optimized in order to achieve the best technical and economical result. The ZIPP company also used its own componants for many own structures - for constructions in Germany, for the construction of large shopping centers and expecially for large industrial and storage facilities. |
