ORGM MAIN DISCOVERIES

1/ - Increase In reserves of some mines in production:

Some mines in production have shown an increase in their reserves. For exemple:

The reserves of the Pb-Zn field of El-Abed (Tlemcen) have grown up to 8,96 Mt with the rate of 3,7 % Zn and 2,83 % Pb.

The lateral expansion of the Iron field of Ouenza and Boukhadra (Tebessa) increased the reserves to 50 Mt with 50 % Fe.

An increase in reserves to achieve one billion tones of the phosphate deposits of Djebel Onk to the proportion of 25 % P2O1
2/ - Quilcksilver :

The reserves discovered sofar in the region of Skikda (Ismaïl, Mrasma, Guenicha, Fendek) approximate 36,5 Million tons with a content of 1,3 % and so put Algeria among the four biggest producers in the world.

3/ - Iron:

The reserves of the Mecheri Abdelaziz field, 200 km from the Iron-field of Gara Djebilet (2 billion tons with 57 % Fe), and 250 km eastwards from Tindouf, are estimeated at 1.350 million tons with an Iron content of 52 %.

4/ - Gold (Hoggar)

The geological reserves in the TIREK field, 400 km westward from Tamanrasset are in the order of 730 tons with an naverage content of 23 g/t, i.e. 16.8 tons of gold.

The reserves of Amesmessa field, 460 km westward from Tamanrasset are in the order of 3,38 million tons with an average content of 18 g/t, i.e 61 tons of Gold.

The reserves in Tiririne-Hanane field, 450 km eastward from Tamanrasset approximate 481.100 tons having an average content of 17 g/t, giving 8.176 kg of Gold. The low-content geological reserves (< 5 g/t) of the last cited two deposits when processed can give more than 7.000 kg of Golds.

5/ - Zinc-Lead-Copper-Sliver :

Zinc-lead deposit of Oued Amizour:
Total estimated reserves 30 Mt with 5,4 % Zn ; 1.& million of tons of them have 10,9 % Zn and 3,04 % Pb having an average thickeness of 49 m.

Zinc deposit of Chabet El-Hamra:
Estimated reserves 5,7 million tons with 5,19 % Zn. Work is in progress in this field for bringing it to the phase of exploitation.

The lead-Zinc-Sliver deposit of Achab Tiri:
Estimated reserves 2,8 Mt with 2,78 % Zn, 2,19 % Ph and 90 gr/t of Ag.

The Lead-Zinc-Copper-Silver deposit of Oued El-Kebir:
Estimated reserves 11,5 Mt with 2,09 % ZN, 2,39 % Pb, 0,7 % Cand 95 g/t Ag.

The Zinc-Lead-Copper deposit of Boudoukha:
Estimated reserves 3,8 % Mt with 5,87 % Zn ; 1,04 % Pb and 0,34 % Cu.

The Lead-Zinc-Silver deposit of Guerrouma:
Estimated reserves 3 Million tons (Mt) with 6,45 % Zn and 1,85 % Pb.

6/ - Celestine and barytes:

Beni Mansour deposit:
Estimated réserves 6,30 Mt with 68 % Sr SO4.

Koudiat Safia deposit:
Estimated reserves 5.56 Mt with 64 % BaSo4.

7/ - Uranium: (Tamarasset region)

Timgaouine :
Estimated reserves 8.4 Mt with 0.151 % U3 O8.

Abankor :
Estimated reserves 3.7 Mt with 0.270 % U3 O8.

Tirief :
Estimated reserves 3.7 Mt with 0.1 % U3 O8.

8/ - Wolfram and tin

Tin-Amzi :
Estimated reserves 238 thousand tons with 0.96 % WO3 and 0.25 % Sn.

El-Karoussa :
Estimated reserves 238 thousand tons with 0.30 % WOO3 and 0.90 % sn.

Bachir :
Estimated reserves 500 thousand tons with 1.78 % WO3.

Nahda :
Estimated reserves 1.370 thousand tons with 1.48 % WO3.

9/ - Non-metallic substances:

A lot of deposits have been discovered and assessed, such as limestone, clay, siliceous sans, felcite, kaolin, fire moulding sand, quartzite, pozzolona, dolomite, gypsum, salt marble ; this has led to the construction of cement plants, brick-works, glass-works, plants of ceramics, chalks, plaster, agregates quarries and plants of salt and marble processing.

Recent discoveries :
Located inside a massif, made up of two volcanic stratums of the mid-miocene and cross-driven by subvolcanic bodies, the Zinc-Lead deposit of Oued Amizoue (Bejaia région), is explored by 25 boreholes forming a grid of 100 x 200 m, of a depth ranging between 270 m and 550 m. This ore heap, of a size of 500 x 400, has a thickness varying from 10 to 191 m. The average content of Zn geological reserves of the middle part approximate 11 millions tons wwith 10,89 % Zn and 3,04 % Pb.

Native sulfur:
Several deposits (Koudiat Belarbi, El-Hamri, Sidi Abdellah, Milar and Stidia) have been discovered in the Lower Chelif bassin stretching over an area of 5.000 km2.

The Layers containing the mineralization in El-Hamri deposit, the most importante one, with a thickness changing from 2 to 25,6 m, have been explored by boreholes covering an area of 5 km2. The sulfur content varies from 11,3 % to 19,13 %.

The reserves approximate 55 Millions tons with a average content of 16.24 % of sulfur.

Diamantiferous placer of Djebel Aberraz:
Located 50 km South-East from the city of Reggane, this placer of quaternary age, has been studied using data from 300 borehotes, a grid of 500 x 200 m, with an average depth of 10 m and from pits forming two grids (500 x 200 ; 500 x 100 m) ; in the most productive levels the grid has been constricted to 250 x 100 m. More than 1.500 diamond grains of granulometic classes of 6 + 4 ; - 4 + 2 ; - 2 + 1 mm have been evidenced.

Promotion of the mining exploration and mineral substances:
The mining exploration and the development of mineral resources are to be promoted with the juridical provisions and regulations.

What ORGM can offer to its partners:
The exploitation of promising districts.
Assessment deposits
Exploitation of deposits after feasibility studies
