THE CONFLICT THAT COME OUT OF NOWHERE - CONFLICT

The border conflict that occurred in May 1998 was an unexpected event for the people of Ethiopia, since they were witnessing the best friendship ever with neighbouring country.

Later on, the conflict turned out to armed conflict. It is undeniable that war has got a negative impact on the economy. However, the conflict is restricted to the bordering areas of Tigray Regional State and it has almost no impact on the investment projects being undertaken. And anyone can witness that everything is normal.
Undertaking a war is a full time job and tackling development issues is also a full time job. Undertaking both at the same time, if not impossible is challenging. The government is committed to implement its economic program at a higher rate than last year's. Most of the people expect the war to end in a very short time, with lesser causalities.
