VICTORIA FALLS
While many tourists visit Livingstone because of its
proximity to Victoria Falls, this historic town, indeed,
has a number of attractions of its own to offer.
Victoria Falls is one of the Seven Natural Wonders
of the World, offering breathtaking views and a
number of additional attractions surrounding the
falls. It is 1.7 km wide, and water drops from a height
of 100 meters. Spray from the falls can be seen from
a distance of 30 km.

Livingstone Area
This village is home to the Leya people, and it has
been in existence since the 11th century. Livingstone
visited the village on several occasions to meet with
the chief. The descendant of the chief still lives there
with 7,000 inhabitants. Mukuni is an authentic tribal
village where thousands of people live and work.
Lodges often organize tours of the village.

This unique safari allows visitors to ride through
the serene African Bush on the back of elephants.
Throughout the tour, local guides field questions
related to the surroundings and the local culture.
After the tour has finished, visitors are given the
opportunity to feed their elephants.
Mosi-oa-Tuny

Park
Situated along the upper Zambezi River, this 66
square kilometer park stretches from Victoria
Falls about 12 km up river. It is home to numerous
elephants, species of antelope, zebra, giraffe, and a
few newly introduced white rhinos.
One can take a pleasant drive around the park in
a couple of hours and most of the animals can be
seen at a rather close distance. Since there are
no predators, animals in the park are very relaxed
and provide visitors with some excellent photo
opportunities.

Established in 1934, the Livingstone Museum
is the oldest and largest of the four national
museums. It houses David Livingstone’s original
notebook, in which he described the first time he
saw Victoria Falls. The museum also houses a vast
archaeological collection among other attractions.

This museum shows how the falls were formed over
the millennia. It is built over an excavation site that
has unearthed evidence of the early hominids living
in the area as far back as 2.5 million years ago.
