Dr. Diego Romero Since 1993 Diego Romero
has served in many capacities at the Quito Chamber
of Commerce, including: Director
(1993-95 & 1996-98), President of the Arbitration
Commission (1996-1997), Delegate to the Executive
Board of Directors (1993-95), and as an Arbitrator
(1993-96). He was Director of the Ecuadorian-Venezuelan
Chamber of Commerce from 1994-96. In 1999-2001
he was Vice- President of the Ecuadorian-American
Arbitration and Mediation
Center With extensive experience in the areas
of aviation accidents, alternative dispute resolution,
commercial law, conflicts of law, corporations,
international business transactions, finance,
taxation and franchising; Dr. Romero has written
many scholarly works on the subjects including:
Licensing, Franchising and Trademark Issues in
Latin America (pre-sented at the Fall 1998 meeting
of the New York Bar Association), Legal Mechanisms
for Rehabilitation of Enterpri-
ses in Ecuador (1986) and Mediation and Arbitration

Dr. Amparo Romero has extensive post-graduate
studies experience
in the United States and Europe. In 1994 she participated
in Harvard
University's Negotiation Seminar with Roger Fisher.
She took part in the
Quito Chamber of Commerce Mediation and Arbitration
Workshop in 1996. In 2000 she received her LL.M
in International Law from American University's
Washington College of Law in Washington, D.C..
The author of scholarly works, Dr. Romero has
written on Intellectual Property Law, Commercial
Lawand Alternative Dispute Resolution. Her publications
include Commercial Arbitration in Ecuador (1996)
and Trademark Tips: Trade Related Aspects of Intellectual
