embarking in sugar processing under the manage-
ment of Consolidated Farming Limited, a 100 per-
cent subsidiary of Sable Transport Limited. Kafue
Sugar is established at a 9,000 hectare estate with
the processing mill along the banks of the Kafue Riv-

1,500 people. This includes estate area managers,
marketing managers, commercial managers, section

Sable currently holds a 30 percent share of the sugar
industry in Zambia, with the remainder being held by
Ilovo Sugar. As a result of its investment, for the first
time in Zambia’s history, its farmers are getting a bet-

now subject to competition.
