DHL is a world market leader in sea and air mail.
Following Deutsche Post World Net’s acquisition of DHL
in 2001, DHL is the world’s leading express and logistics
company, offering customized solutions from a single
source. The move brought together DHL’s traditional
courier and express business, Euro Express’s parcel
business and Danzas’ logistics business, making a one-
stop shop for all movement of mail, documents, pack-
ages, and shipments.
As the company grew, more and more products were
introduced and launched, offering clients a breadth of
products to suit their particular needs.
To most destinations in sub-Saharan Africa, delivery is
possible overnight, with the latest pickup times being
offered.
DHL is present in over 220 countries and territories
across the globe, making it the most international com-
pany in the world. With a workforce exceeding 325,000
employees, it provides solutions for an almost infinite
number of logistics needs.
DHL is part of the world’s leading postal and logistics
Group, Deutsche Post DHL Group and encompasses
three divisions: DHL Express, DHL Global Forwarding,
Freight, and DHL Supply Chain.

Emirates is an airline based in Dubai. The airline is a
subsidiary of The Emirates Group, which is wholly
owned by the government of Dubai’s Investment Corpo-
ration of Dubai. It is the largest airline in the Middle East,
operating over 3,300 flights per week from its hub in the
Dubai International Airport. It serves more than 144 cit-
ies in 78 countries across six continents. Cargo activities
are undertaken by Emirates SkyCargo.
On 25 October 1985, Emirates flew its first routes out
of Dubai with just two aircrafts—a leased Boeing 737
and an Airbus 300 B4. Emirates has since evolved into
a globally influential travel and tourism conglomerate
known the world over for its commitment to the highest
standards of quality in every aspect of its business.
Though wholly owned by the Government of Dubai,
Emirates has grown in scale and stature not through
protectionism, but through competition—competition
with the ever-growing number of international carriers
that take advantage of Dubai’s open-skies policy.
After making its initial start-up investment, the Govern-
ment of Dubai saw fit to treat Emirates as a wholly inde-
pendent business entity, and today it is thriving because
of it. The airline has recorded an annual profit every year
since its third in operation.
