Founded in: 1945
Ethiopian Airlines (Ethiopian) is the fastest growing
and most profitable airline in Africa. Ethiopian com-
mands the lion share of the pan-African passenger
and cargo network operating the youngest and most
modern fleet, traveling to more than 83 international
destinations across five continents. Ethiopian’s fleet
includes ultra-modern and environmentally friendly
aircrafts such as the Boeing 787, Boeing 777-300ER,
Boeing 777-200LR, Boeing 777-200LR Freighter, and
the Bombardier Q-400 with a double cabin. In fact,
Ethiopian is the first airline in Africa to own and oper-
ate these aircrafts.
In 2014, IATA ranked Ethiopian as the largest airline
in Africa in terms of revenue and profit. In its opera-
tions in the past seven decades, Ethiopian has been
a pioneer of African aviation as an aircraft technology
leader.
Ethiopian joined Star Alliance, the world’s largest Air-
line network in December 2011. This enables Ethio-
pian customers to enjoy a seamless travel experience,
allowing them to access 21,900 daily departures and
1,329 destinations within 194 countries.
Ethiopian is currently implementing a 15-year strategic
plan called Vision 2025 with seven strategic business
units: Ethiopian International Passenger Service, Ethi-
opian Regional Service, Ethiopian Cargo, Ethiopian
MRO, Ethiopian Aviation Academy, Ethiopian In-flight
Catering Service, and Ethiopian Ground Service.
Ethiopian is multi-award winning, including SKYTRAX
and Passenger Choice Awards in 2013, and it has
been registering an average growth of 25 percent per
annum in the past seven years.

Fastjet Plc. is a low-cost airline aimed to provide pan-
African services. The airline was initially created with
the acquisition of Fly540, an airline operating in East
Africa, and flights in Fastjet’s own name commenced
in November 2012.
With ambitious plans to create Africa’s first pan-con-
tinental airline, fastjet has introduced international
standards of safety, quality, security, and reliability
with 90 percent of all flights arriving on time.
Established in 2012, fastjet has flown over
1,000,000 passengers with almost 40 percent of
such passengers being first time flyers benefitting
from fares as low as 17.50 USD. Of the company’s
300,000 social media followers, fastjet has over
100 customers who have flown as frequently as 50
times.
