Activity: Travel Agency
Founded in: 1987
Voyagers was founded in 1987 by Marion and her
husband Howard Gatchell. Before starting Voyagers,
Marion was a highly successful Travel Consultant
and Manager with over a decade of experience in the
Zambian Travel industry.
Voyagers quickly expanded beyond its Ndola base
and moved from being a ticketing agency to includ-
ing incoming tours and holidays. Operating offices
now include those in Chingola, Lusaka, Kitwe, and
Livingstone.
Voyagers began offering incoming tours late in the
1980’s, becoming one of the first Zambian firms to
visit the World Travel Market in London and to work
with many of the Safari Industry startups of the time.
In 1995 Voyagers Rentals was started with a single
car to provide Car Hire services. Voyagers Rentals
has grown steadily since then, and it now offers a
wide range of vehicles and locations throughout
Zambia.
In the future, Voyagers will embark on an exciting
new series of programs. The company is signifi-
cantly upgrading its software and customer service
infrastructure to improve client information access
and dramatically improve the technology that facili-
tates communication between the company and its
valued clients.

The Zambia Tourism Board (ZTB) is a statutory body
established under the Tourism Act no.24 of 2007. Its
mandate is to market and promote Zambia as a tour-
ist destination within and outside Zambia. Currently
the Board has five established offices in Lusaka
(Head office), Livingstone, Pretoria (South Africa),
London (UK), and Washington DC (USA).
In line with its mandate to promote and market Zam-
bia’s tourism products, the ZTB has undertaken a
number of different marketing activities that include
attending fairs and road shows in both the domestic
and international markets.
ZTB actively encourages the various service pro-
viders, ranging from transporters to hoteliers, to
complement its campaign of promoting Zambia as
a world-class tourism destination and consider ex-
tending their services to Zambia and reap the vast
opportunities available.
