INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITIES
There are a number of investment opportunities
available in Zambia, and the government has
made improving the sector a top priority. There is a
great need for increased access to the appropriate
infrastructure, medical equipment, and essential
drugs.
The three levels of healthcare and service delivery
must be improved, and the government encourag-
es private sector participation in both the financing
and provision of high-quality healthcare as well as
through 333s in the development and implemen-
tation of major health programs.
PRIVATE HEALTH
Good private hospitals are available to foreigners
and affluent Zambians in the country’s larger cit-
ies, particularly in Lusaka. Expats living in mining
communities can also find on-site company-spon-
sored clinics. In case of needing serious, long-
term medical care, expats are often evacuated to
other countries like South Africa.
PUBLIC HEALTH
Universal healthcare is available to all citizens.
That being said, it is extremely basic when com-
pared to Western standards. The public health-
care system is underfunded, and only 50 percent
of those living in rural areas have access to facili-
ties. The situation is quite different for urban dwell-
ers, where 99 percent have access to healthcare
facilities. As facilities are often at capacity, only
critical injuries will elicit immediate care in a public
hospital. Zambian doctors often leave the country
or will only work in the private system, which has
left the public healthcare system with a significant
skills drain.

CURE has established a presence in 30 countries,
including a hospital in Zambia. CURE physicians
and staff have performed more than 191,000 life-
changing surgeries, with more than 2.7 million pa-
tient visits, and have trained more than 7,200 med-
ical professionals. The miracles of physical healing
have opened doors to spiritual healing in ways that
are affirming and culturally-sensitive. The heart of
the organization follows the hearts of its founders:
to continue to give hope by giving the highest qual-
ity care for the medical and spiritual healing of chil-
dren with disabilities and their families.
